Leatherneck Women's Soccer Unveils 2023 Schedule

Nine home matches highlight the schedule

MACOMB -- The Western Illinois University women's soccer program unveiled its schedule for the upcoming 2023 season on Thursday as the Leatherneck women become the first WIU program in action this fall. The schedule features 18 matches, including a pair of exhibitions.

The Leathernecks open the 2023 campaign with a pair of home exhibition matches, hosting Drake (Aug. 9) and Northeast Community College (Aug. 14).

Western Illinois begins the regular season, hosting Northern Illinois (Aug. 17) before heading on the road to play Chicago State (Aug. 20). The Leathernecks host Northern Iowa (Aug. 24) before going on the road for a pair of matches, taking on Loyola-Chicago (Aug. 31) and UW-Milwaukee (Sept. 3).

Western returns home to play UW-Green Bay (Sept. 7) before ending the non-conference portion of the schedule at Illinois State (SEPT. 10).

The Leathernecks make their Ohio Valley Conference debut, taking on Southeast Missouri in Macomb (Sept. 21).

Western Illinois hits the road the next two Sundays, visiting Morehead State (Sept. 24) and UT-Martin (Oct. 1). The next home match for the Leathernecks is against Southern Indiana (Oct. 5).

WIU then alternates away and home games, visiting Tennessee Tech (Oct. 8), then hosting Eastern Illinois (Oct. 12).

The Leathernecks meet defending league tournament champion, SIU-Edwardsville in Edwardsville (Oct. 15) before traveling to Little Rock (Oct. 19). Western Illinois ends the regular season at home, hosting Lindenwood (Oct. 22).
 
The OVC Women's Soccer Championship takes place October 27 & 29 and November 2 and 5 with higher seeds hosting.
