SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Kansas City, Oral Roberts and Western Illinois were all represented in this week's Summit League TicketSmarter Outdoor Track and Field Peak Performer of the Week accolades, League officials released Tuesday.
Western Illinois' Lucas Burmeister and Oral Roberts Abraham Sargent claimed the honors for the men while WIU's Maleigha Huston and Kansas City's Jaleesa McWashington earned the awards for the women.
At the Meet of Champions, Burmeister tabbed two top-five finishes in his events. The freshman ran a personal-best time of 10.53 in the 100-meter to take the event title. He then clocked a 21.52 in the 200m good for fourth place.
Huston walked away with a pair of third-place finishes at the Meet of Champions. For her third-place finish in the 800m, she crossed the finished line in 2:18.52. In the 1500m, she crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 4:40.03.
