The Western Illinois track and field teams competed at the Bill Cornell Invite on Apr 8, 2023, in Carbondale at Southenr Illinois University. The teams walked away with three event wins, and top 10 all-time marks in two events.
Aliyah Adams led the way with a personal best in the long jump of 5.97 meters (19 feet 7 inches). Her jump was good enough to place her first and become the fifth best long jumper in school history.
Lucas Burmeister ran personal bests in the 100 meter and 200 meter runs with times of 10.77 and 21.44 seconds. Burmeister narrowly missed the all-time list in the 200 meters by .03 seconds.
Nino Romeo won the men's pole vault, while Aylana Cezar won the women's steeplechase running the ninth fastest time in school history.
The Leathernecks head to Edwardsville on Apr 15 for the SIU-E Cougar Classic.
