Leathernecks Ready for Tall Task at SEMO

Last Time Out | Western Illinois fell in both matches against Tennessee Tech last weekend. Against Tennessee Tech, Keyana Cruse recorded 29 kills last weekend, averaging 3.63 per set. At the net, Grace Kremer and Julianna Schmidt both recorded five total blocks. As a team, WIU outblocked the Golden Eagles 13-12.

Breaking Records | Karli Wenzel moved into sole possession of 6th place in career digs with her 32 dig performance last weekend. Wenzel sits at 1,211 career digs, only 192 digs away from moving into the top five.

First Time in a Decade | Western Illinois currently sits tied with Southern Indiana and SIUE for 5th place in the OVC standings with a 6-6 record. WIU is looking to snap a ten-year drought of postseason play this season. The top eight teams make the OVC tournament, which takes place at the regular season championship school.

Top Half of the OVC | Keyana Cruse continues to climb up the statistical leaderboards in the OVC. The junior from Bonner Springs, Kansas, currently ranks fourth in kills with 297, averaging 3.49 kills per set. Cruse also sits at number five in total points as she has contributed 342 points this season, averaging over four a set.

Junior's Maggie Craker, Brittany Wulf, Karli Wenzel, and Julianna Schmidt all rank in the top 10 as well. Craker sits at number five in assists with 794. Wulf ranks 6th in service aces with 26, Wenzel has 401 digs on the season, good enough for 6th, and Schmit comes in at number 10 with 82 total blocks.

Scouting SEMO | SEMO comes into the weekend tied atop the OVC standings with a 10-2 record. The Redhawks have only dropped matches to Eastern Illinois and SIUE. SEMO is led by reigning freshman of the week, Lucy Arndt. Arndt finished with a team and game-high 13 kills and a .200 attack percentage against Little Rock on Monday. She also recorded a double-double, turning 12 digs from her outside hitter position.
