Western Illinois Faces Quincy on Saturday

Leathernecks close out fall season this weekend

MACOMB – The Western Illinois women's tennis team is back in action this weekend, taking on Quincy University on Saturday at 1 p.m. The match is the final contest of the fall season for the Leathernecks.

On the tennis court, Western Illinois has never lost to Quincy, compiling a 6-0 mark. Western Illinois won last year's match, 4-3, taking the doubles portion 2-1 and splitting singles, 3-3.

Western Illinois last competed in the SEMO Redhawk Invitational, going 1-2 overall. Western Illinois defeated Tennessee Southern 5-2 while falling to SEMO and SIU-E.

Paige Grice, Anna-Evelina Trush, Aina Cortina-Pou and Agatha Carbonell each scored single-match victories over Tennessee Southern while the doubles teams of Grace and Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza and Maria Rybka and Cortina-Pou also scored wins.

After the match, Western Illinois heads into a mini break before opening up the winter/spring season.
