Colley Wins 400m In Regular Season Finale

Track and field concluded the regular season with the Dr. Tucker Open.

DUBUQUE, IOWA- Western Illinois track and field wrapped up the outdoor regular season with the Dr. Tucker Open, hosted by Loras College. The Leathernecks ended the regular season with a win and four new personal best. Fans can view the full results here.
 
"It was a beautiful day for the team up in Dubuque. This was the first great weather day we've had all spring so far," said Head Coach Trey Brokaw. "We had quite a few athletes run personal best and nearly make the top 10 all-time lists. Ackeen was .05 off making it into the top-10 for the 400 meters, Maleigha was .19 off making it into the top 10 for the 800 meters. Both athletes ran new personal best today.  Logan Lommel in the 800 and Isaiah Moorman in the 1500 had really good improvements on their previous personal bests as well."
 
Ackeen Colley took first in the 400m with a new personal best time of 47.88 seconds for his second straight week with a first-place finish. Colley's time was .05 off from being the tenth best 400m in program history.
 
 Lucas Hofer just missed out on a new personal best in the 800m, but still took third overall with a time of 1:50.85. Logan Lommel managed to set a new personal best in the 800m with a time of 1:52.74 to take sixth place. Isaiah Moorman set a new personal best in the 1500m with a time of 4:07.37.
 
For the women's team, Maleigha Huston had her best 800m of the outdoor season, setting a new personal best at 2:13.68 to place third overall. Huston was .19 seconds off from having the tenth fastest 800m time in school history. Kristina Petrou also competed in the 800m, placing eighth overall with a time of 2:23.66. Briza Dure took second place in the 200m with a time of 25.36 seconds for her best career placement in the 200m.
 
Western Illinois track and field begins the postseason as they head to Tulsa Okla., for the 2022 Summit League outdoor conference championships from Thursday (May 12) through Saturday (May 14).
