Brokaw's Excitment For Outdoor Season | "We are excited to open up our outdoor season in Kansas this weekend. The team has been working very hard over the past few weeks to prepare for this opener," said Head Coach Trey Brokaw. "I anticipate many personal bests and maybe even some school records this weekend. Emporia State has a great facility and we should see some of the best teams in the region this weekend. The weather also looks great, which is a huge plus this early in the outdoor season."

Preseason Recognition | Western Illinois had two athletes named the Summit Leagues' preseason 'Athletes to Watch' list. Senior Ackeen Colley and freshman Maleigha Huston represented WIU with the preseason honors. Western Illinois was picked to finish seventh in the men's preseason poll and women's preseason poll.

800m Champ | The 800m continues to be Ackeen Colley's event, as the Lucea, Jamacia native will look for his fourth conference championship in the 800m. Colley took first place in the 800m in the 2021 indoor and outdoor season. He's coming off his third 800m conference win during the Summit League indoor championships in February.

Huston's Anticipated Outdoor Debut | Maleigha Huston has waited a long time for her first outdoor season. Huston ended her career at West Prairie high school as an Illinois class A state champion in the 800m. She will now get the chance to show what she's made of at the collegiate level at the Emporia State Relays.
