Western Illinois saw three athletes put themselves in the record books in their meets over the weekend.

South Bend, Ind.- Western Illinois track and field wrapped up its third invitational of the indoor season, competing in the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame and Keck Select hosted by Illinois Wesleyan. Fans can view full results from the Meyo Invitational here and the Keck Select here.

"We had some great performances this weekend from our team. We saw a lot of new personal records broken and a number of athletes put themselves in the record books," said head coach Trey Brokaw. "Athletes all across different levels saw major improvements and we have a lot to build on going forward."

Ackeen Colley was the big performer for the men's team in the Meyo Invitational. He ran his first 800m of the season in 1:48.80, which is his fastest opener ever to give him sixth overall. The time ranks him 16th in the country and just a second behind the NCAA leader.

"He ran really smart and ran with a lot of confidence in a loaded 800 field. He will need to run a little faster still to secure his place at the NCAA Championships but there is definitely still room for improvement," said Trey Brokaw.

Logan Lommel had another great performance in the mile at the Meyo Invitational. Lommel set a new personal record with a time of 4:12.15 and now sits third all-time in school history with his mile time.

"Logan's mile was a huge step forward for him personally. In another race or two I believe he will be ready to take a shot at the school record of 4:08.53 that Ackeen Colley set a few weeks ago," said Trey Brokaw.

Habibu Moise set a new personal record in the 5000m at the Keck Select to help him cross the finish line first overall. Moise's new personal best of 15:04.06 is now fifth all-time in school history.

"Habi won the event easily and should be able to run under 15:00 next time out. He's put in a lot of miles so seeing that hard work payoff is always rewarding," said Trey Brokaw.

On the women's side, Maleigha Huston had another fantastic performance with a new personal record in the 800m. Huston set a new personal mark of 2:14.12 and ranks sixth all-time in school history.

"She took the lead from the start of the race and made the University of Illinois athlete work really hard to barely beat her in the last 50 meters," said Trey Brokaw. "Maleigha's splits were 60-74 so there is a ton of room for improvement still. I think if she's able to split 63-65 on the first 400 meters, she'll be looking at sub 2:10.00 this year as a freshman."

Jasmine Stokes set a new personal best in weight throws at 15.70m to take fourth place at the Keck Select.

"It wasn't quite a top-10 performance but she's certainly knocking on the door of being one of the best weight throwers in school history," said Trey Brokaw. "Her main event is the hammer throw outdoors so seeing these big improvements in an off event is a great sign of things to come in the hammer later this spring."

Madison Trevena and Mackenzie Goldring took the top two spots in the 5000m in the Keck Select. Trevena took first place with a new personal best of 18:19.7, while Goldring took second at 18:56.93. The Matthews twins weren't far behind, with Elyse Matthews taking fifth and Kaitlyn Matthews taking seventh.

Western Illinois will be back in action next Friday Feb. 11 and Saturday Feb. 12, as they head to Ames, Iowa to take part in the Iowa State Classic hosted by Iowa State University.
