Words From Brokaw | "We saw some of the best competition in the country last weekend at Notre Dame and I was really proud of the way our team represented the program and University. For many individuals this was the biggest race of their career. Good or bad, we learned a lot from the performances and I'm confident that knowledge will help us moving forward," said head coach Trey Brokaw. "Vanderbilt looks to be another very hot competition this weekend with many of the best track & field programs from around the country in attendance; most of the SEC will be there, and some top programs from the Big 12 and Big Ten as well. It will be a good opportunity for our student-athletes to hit NCAA qualifying marks and/or conference leading marks."

Recapping Notre Dame | Ackeen Colley was the big performer for the men's team in the Meyo Invitational. He ran his first 800m of the season in 1:48.80, which is his fastest opener ever to give him sixth overall. The time ranks him 16th in the country and just a second behind the NCAA leader. Maleigha Huston had another fantastic performance for the women's team with a new personal record in the 800m. Huston set a new personal mark of 2:14.12 and ranks sixth all-time in school history.

Other Competition | Western Illinois will also be sending athletes to compete in the Titan Open hosted by Illinois Wesleyan.

"We will send another group of athletes back to Illinois Wesleyan this weekend. This will be a good chance for them to continue their development towards conference scorers and NCAA qualifiers," said Trey Brokaw. "We have quite a few individuals, especially on the women's side, who are ranked in the top-20 for their event in the Summit League; Tyronay Taylor, Morgan Reed, Jasmine Stokes, Briza Duré, Isaiah Mooreman, and Mackenzie Goldring. I'm hopeful they can continue to move up the rankings and more individuals can join them in scoring position. This is the last major opportunity to get a personal best before the Summit League Championships in two weeks."

Fans can view results from the Titan Open with the Titan Open live stats page. Fans will not be allowed to attend the event per Illinois Wesleyan.
