The goalkeeper joins the United Soccer League 1 (USL1) to begin his professional career.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - After his final season and a career to remember for the Western Illinois men's soccer team, Tim Trilk starts a new chapter as he signed with the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on Friday (Jan. 24).

"I am very happy for Tim," Director of Soccer Dr. Eric Johnson said. "He paid his dues both in the classroom and on the field the last four years. His dream to continue playing after college has come true and I am very proud of his accomplishments."

Trilk joins the Red Wolves, a founding member of the United Soccer League League 1 (USL1). The league formed in 2017 and began play last year. An overall goal of the league is to target cities with a population of 150,000 to one million, and mostly cities currently without a professional team. The 2020 season begins on March 27 against the Greenville Triumph SC.

During an interview with https://www.chattanoogaredwolves-sc.com, head coach Jimmy Obleda said, "Tim is one of the best up and coming goalkeepers in the country. He has great control and commands respect in his area. He also is very good with his feet, which is a great skill for the modern goalkeeper. We are happy to have him, and our goalkeeping position is in great hands."

In his final season as a Leatherneck, Trilk finished second in The Summit League and sixth in NCAA with 90 saves en route to a First Team All-League selection and a two-time Defensive Player of the Week award recipient. The two weekly awards added to his career total of four to tie the program record.

The native of Rockford, Ill., was in the "Top 10" in NCAA D1 saves all year, including being tied for first on Sept. 9. Trilk collected a career-high 13 saves at UIC, which tied the program mark for third in saves in a game.

In The Summit League Championships, Trilk stopped seven Omaha shots to be named All-Tournament Team. He scattered his name throughout the record book in the 2019 campaign and finished with program marks for fourth in minutes in goal (4733:13), eighth in career saves (201), tied sixth in shutouts (8), and ninth in wins (14).

Inside the classroom, the hospitality management major boasted a 3.8 GPA to be named to the Academic All-League Team as he graduated from Western Illinois in December as a Departmental Scholar.
