One Final Summit League Series Inside Alfred D. Boyer

The Leathernecks play host to Omaha in their final home league series.

Senior Send-Off: For CJ Schaeffer Jr., Justin Fitzpatrick, Bailey Montgomery, Nolan Ard, Deion Thompson, and Steve McShane, this weekend will mark their last Summit League outings inside Alfred D. Boyer Stadium.

The six will be recognized in a pregame ceremony on Sunday. 

Western's Last Outing: The Leathernecks were a game shy of back-to-back series sweeps over Oral Roberts, but still claimed the road series win by scores of 6-4 and 9-3.

•    Deion Thompson and Drue Galassi each brought in four runs, while Grant Hannant added three on his first career home run 
•    Javin Drake pitched his first career complete game with a career-high 12 strikeouts in the 9-3 decision 

Undefeated in Extras: Western is 3-0 in extra-inning ballgames this season, and all three have occurred on the road.

Streaks: Kevin Raisbeck has reached base in 19 consecutive games, which is the Leathernecks' longest streak since former catcher Adam McGinnis recorded 27 back in 2017. 

Weekly Awards: In his inaugural Leatherneck campaign, Kevin Raisbeck is already a two-time Summit League Player of the Week. The junior infielder garnered his latest award after guiding the team with a .500 batting average (8-for-16) and six runs in games at Iowa and Oral Roberts.

A Dream Realized: Left fielder Steve McShane received the opportunity of a lifetime with an invitation to the Pittsburgh Steelers' mini-camp (April 29). The two-sport student-athlete was a three-time Second Team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection who finished his career with 2,375 rushing yards, 1,031 receiving yards and 32 total touchdowns. 

On the diamond, he was a First Team All-Summit League selection last season and appeared in 146 career games with a .257 batting average, 35 stolen bases, 111 hits, and 73 runs.  

Back-to-Back: For the first time under the direction of head coach Ryan Brownlee, the Leathernecks clinched back-to-back Summit League sweeps in home sets against Oral Roberts (April 5-7) and Purdue Fort Wayne (April 12-13). 

Prior to this season's set against WIU, the Golden Eagles had never been swept in league play.
