Western Illinois cross country faced a lengthy delay in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. –The Western Illinois cross country teams navigated Rose Creek Golf Course at The Summit League Championships presented by U.S. Air Force Saturday afternoon (Nov. 2). Overnight snow in the area moved the start time back by two hours.

Nicole Beebe led the Leathernecks again with a 6K time of 22:07 for 16th place overall. Hailey Tranchitella was three-tenths of a second short of her best time of 23:06.7 for a 33rd place finish. Elyse Mathews (24:23.5) and Mackenzie Goldring (24:25.8) finished back-to-back.

Abigail Richter (24:51.5) and Kaitlyn Mathews (25:10.5, PR) were followed by Jacey Roper (25:24.2) to round out the official Leatherneck lineup. In her first Summit League event, April Goetz completed the course at 25:37.9 and Nessrine Zbeeb (27:01.6) finished hard.

Quintin Thurman's streak of improving his personal record ended, but he was close with an 8K time of 26:58.1 for 28th place. Lucas Howett was behind Thurman at 27:32.3.

Freshman Kameron Morgan (27:41.0) and team veteran Ross Smetzer (28:25.5) wrapped three spots away from each other. Isaiah Moorman closed at the group with a 30:11.1 performance.
