MACOMB, Ill. – After taking on Evansville a week ago, Western Illinois baseball will return to the state for a five-game road stand at Indiana State and Indiana.
All three games against the Sycamores will be live streamed on ESPN3. The series begins Saturday at 12 p.m.

Last Outing
Western (0-9) took on Evansville at Braun Stadium this past weekend, where late efforts determined all three ballgames. Each of the Leathernecks' starting pitchers performed well, but the Purple Aces recorded 16 runs between the fifth and final innings.
- Koch received the start to open the series, and allowed two runs, just one earned, through the seventh frame
- Game two saw Dunne retire the first 11 batters faced, and a career-high nine strikeouts before Evansville scored in the bottom of the sixth
- Drake and Pete Minella combined for 4.1 innings of play in the series finale, and allowed three runs; the teams were tied heading into the bottom of the eighth where the Purple Aces recorded three unearned runs

Deion Thompson,
Johnathan Fleek and
Drue Galassi have started all nine games this season. Thompson guides the trio with a .273 batting average, and ties for first on the team in hits (9) while also producing a Leatherneck-best eight RBIs.
With the longest current streak, just one more than
Dillon Sears, Galassi has reached base nine consecutive games.
Scouting the Opposition – Indiana State
Saturday's set versus Western will mark the Sycamores' (6-5) first at home this season.
Jarrod Watkins, Indiana State's starting second baseman, leads the team with a .388 average. Romero Harris manages a team-high 15 RBIs on 11 hits, which includes four home runs and a pair of doubles.

Scouting the Opposition – Indiana
No. 14 Indiana (9-3) will host a three-game set versus Pacific before welcoming the Leathernecks. The Hoosiers have defeated stiff competition this season in formerly-ranked No. 17 South Alabama and No. 13 San Diego.

Western's home-opener will also serve as its first game in Summit League play, as the team plays host to North Dakota State in a three-game set. Action begins Friday, March 16, at 3 p.m.
