Women's Golf Concludes Competition At Islander Spring Classic

Krehbiel led the Leathernecks over three rounds.

FINAL RESULTS

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas —
Western Illinois Women's golf tied for eighth at the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islander Spring Classic with a three-round total of 959.

Senior Alex Krehbiel led the way for the Leathernecks with a 238 (+22). After shooting an 81 for the first round, she followed up with a 77 and 80 in the final two rounds to tie for 21st.

Allie Leingang followed with a pair of 80s and an 83 to finish tied for 38th with a 243 (+27). Cassidy Jurkaites finished one stroke behind Leingang to tie for 40th, while Ashley Dumler finished 50th with a 251 (+35). Bridget Connolly posted a two-round total of 152 (77, 75) before having to withdraw from the third round (T-63rd).

"It was a tough day for us," said head coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen. "Bridget had to withdraw due to illness. We struggled with our tee shots and mental game. Several of the team were less than 100 percent physically, so we will come home, rest up and prepare for Morehead State over spring break."

Western Illinois now sets its sights to the Morehead State University Citrus Challenge, which will take place in Sorrento, Fla. Competition will take place from March 18-20.
