Leathernecks Prepare For Dual Meets With Omaha, South Dakota

Western Illinois women face Mavericks on Friday before traveling to competition with Coyotes on Saturday

MACOMB, Ill. - Following a dual meet with Northern Iowa last week, the Western Illinois women's swimming and diving team squares off at 5 p.m. Friday (Jan. 26) in a dual meet at Omaha. Both the Leatherneck men and women will then participate in a dual meet at noon on Saturday (Jan. 27) at South Dakota.

IT'S BEEN AWHILE: It took 48 days for the Western Illinois women to compete in a meet between their Dec. 2 dual meet with Truman State and their Jan. 20 dual meet against Northern Iowa. For the Leatherneck men, it'll be 56 days between competitions. It's their longest gap in meets going back to at least the 2004-05 campaign.

LAST TIME OUT: Erica Hagen and Dana Kaftan each raced for individual victories on Saturday (Jan. 20) in a home dual meet with Northern Iowa. Hagen registered wins in the 100-breast (1:05.26) and the 200-IM (2:17.18). Kaftan touched first in the 200-fly with a mark of 2:23.53. Western Illinois ended up succumbing 187-102 to the Panthers.

In the Leatherneck men's last meet on Dec. 2 against Truman State, senior Kyle Siebert earned a win in the 100-breast (1:00.60) in his final home competition. Two other Western Illinois men won individual events, as Phillip Kudela took the 200-free (1:45.65) and Samir Almhiemid sprinted to victory in the 50-free (22.18)
