Cross Country Concludes Race at Illinois State

The Leathernecks competed at the Illinois State Country Financial Invite

RESULTS

MACOMB, Ill. — The Western Illinois Fighting Leatherneck cross country program competed at the Illinois State Country Financial Invite Friday (Sept. 8). Both the men and the women finished with an eighth-place result.

For the women, Hailey Tranchitella secured a top-20 finish, posting a time of 18:21.0 in the 5k. Nicole Beebe followed in 42nd place with a time of 18:54.3, while Abigail Richter rounded out the top-3 for Western Illinois with a time of 19:04.8 for 48th.

On the men's' side, Grant Kaiser led the Leathernecks with a time of 26.55.6 for 47th in the 8k, and Lucas Lingle was right behind in 49th, posting a time of 27:02.1. Ross Smetzer, Harry Osborne and Quintin Thurman rounded out the Purple and Gold with times of 28:17.9, 29:51.3 and 30:49.9 for 61st, 64th and 65th.

The Leathernecks will now shift their focus to the Bradley Intercollegiate, which takes place Sept. 15 for a 5 p.m. start. That is followed by the Lousiville Classic (Sept. 30) and then back to Bradley for the Pink Classic (Oct. 13) to finish off the regular season. The Summit League Championships take place afterwards, beginning Oct. 28 at 10 a.m.
