Leathernecks Place Three In The Top 14 At Bradley Intercollegiate

PEORIA, Ill. – Hailey Tranchitella, Abigail Richter and Nicole Beebe each finished in the top 14 in the women's 3-mile in Friday's (Sept. 15) Bradley Intercollegiate at Detwiler Park in Peoria. The Leatherneck women finished fourth with 96 points, and the men came in sixth in the 8k with 139 points.

In the women's 3-mile run, Tranchitella's 17:47.5 time finished 11th, while Richter placed 12th with a trek of 17:52.0. Beebe followed soon after with a 17:58.2 mark to net 14th place. Also on the women's side, Jacey Roper ran a 19:06.6 time to place 42nd. Michaela Busch (92nd, 21:27.1) and Kristen Goben (105th, 22:21.9) also competed for Western Illinois.

Grant Kaiser had the best finish of any men's Leatherneck runner, crossing the 8k finish line in 37th place at 27:39.4. Lucas Lingle nipped Kaiser's heels to come in 40th with a mark of 27:47.4. Western Illinois also had Corey Moody (46th, 28:19.8) and Ross Smetzer (49th, 28:25.0) finish back-to-back. Harry Osborne (62nd, 29:28.6) and Quintin Thurman (76th, 32:01.0) rounded out the competitors for the Purple & Gold.

Western Illinois next competes on Sept. 30 at the Louisville Classic in Kentucky.
