Women's Golf Wraps Up Action in Summit League Championships

FINAL RESULTS

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. - Western Illinois women's golf team wrapped up action in the 2017 Summit League Championships Tuesday (April 25) in sixth place. The Leathernecks finished with a 963 after carding marks of 322, 325 and 316.

"The team has had a record breaking year, with many personal and team bests," said head coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen. "We stumbled out of the gate on the first day at the Summit League Championships, but played well in the challenging 30-40 mph winds on Monday to gain one spot. We held on today (Tuesday) with three rounds in the 70s to finish our season. I'm proud of all we have accomplished this season and am optimistic about our team moving forward."

WIU was led by its lone senior, Anna Cullinan, who finished tied for 16th overall with a 237. Cullinan opened play with a 77 before carding scores of 81 and 79 in rounds two and three.

"Anna (Cullinan) has been a top player for us and will be missed on many levels. I have faith that we will have players step up to fill the gap she leaves in our top five lineup," concluded Lukkarinen.

Ashley Dumler tied for 22nd with a 240 with marks of 81, 76 and 83. Alex Krehbiel led Western in round three with a 76. She tied for 25th overall and finished with a three round total of 244 (85-83-76).

Also tying for 25th and a 240 was Allie Leingang who finished with individual scores of 81, 85 and 78 in the three rounds.

Cassidy Jurkaites finished in 40th with a 254 (83-87-84).
