#W1U15in15's #15: Kelly Richardson Named Head Volleyball Coach

Western Illinois athletics will be counting down the top moments and achievements from the 2014-15 academic year for the remainder of June.

MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois athletics announced the hiring of new head volleyball coach Kelly Richardson, on January 22, 2015. Shortly after being hired Richardson added assistant coach Dan Brown to her coaching staff, followed by graduate assistant coach, Taylor Szypulski.

Richardson on being hired as WIU's head volleyball coach:
"I am very grateful, for the opportunity to join the Leatherneck family. From the moment we stepped on campus my family and I felt at home. We are grateful to be a part of such a wonderful community and university. I am excited to start working with the team as we move the program forward in a positive direction."

Richardson and her coaching staff quickly hit the recruiting trail and on national signing day added 12 new members to the Fighting Leatherneck family who will join seniors, Peyton Crosser, and Jordan Jackson, Western's two returning letterwinners from a season ago, for the Fall of 2015.

The Fighting Leatherneck volleyball team opens the 2015 season at home with the WIU Volleyball Classic (Aug. 28-29). A complete schedule for the 2015 season can be found HERE.
