@WIU_WGolf Finishes Opening Day of Rocket Classic

Due to darkness, WIU and two other teams have one hole to play before completing round two.

PORT CLINTON, Ohio - The Western Illinois women's golf team completed play in the first day of Toledo's Rocket Classic Monday (Oct. 13). The Leathernecks and two other teams are slated to finish the second round tomorrow morning before beginning the third and final round of the invite after darkness cut round two short.

WIU currently owns a score of 304.

Jessica Knepp leads the team with a 150 after 35 holes. Knepp hit a 79 in round one and has a 71 in round two with one hole to play.

Two strokes behind Knepp is Julie Whalen who owns 152 after day one. Whalen tallied a 79 in round one before carding a 73 thru 17 holes in the second round.

Alex Krehbiel and Allison Farrell both have a 162 after 35 holes heading into Tuesday. Krehbiel hit a 84 in round one before recording a 79 in the first 17 holes of round two, while Farrell tallied an 83 during the opening round before shooting an 80 in the first 17 holes of round two.

Allie Leingang was the only one of the Leathernecks' 'Top 5' to finish all 36 holes and is in 47th-place with a 166 (84-82).

The Leathernecks had two golfers competing as individuals in Jessica Schultz and Anna Cullinan. Schultz tallied a two-round score of 167 (79-88) and is in 53rd-place, while Cullinan is 70th after the first two rounds with a 175 (87-88).
