MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois men's tennis student-athlete
Mitch Granger has been named Papa Johns Scholar-Athlete of the Week for his
accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.
The sophomore had an impressive outing over the weekend in
the Valparaiso Invitational. He made it all the way to the singles final of his
respective flight before falling in a tight one 6-3, 3-6, 10-1. In the
first-round of the tournament, Granger was trailing 6-3, 4-0 early on, but
battled back to an impressive victory, 3-6, 7-6, 12-10.
In
the first tournament of the year in early September, Granger had another
impressive comeback, winning five straight points to take home the No. 5
singles title at the Western Illinois Art Peterson Invitational.
Off
the court, the Grayslake, Illinois native is majoring in Journalism and holds a
3.926 cumulative GPA.
