MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois swimming and diving hits the road for the final competition weekend of the regular season. The Fighting Leathernecks face off against Iowa on Friday (Feb. 3) at 6 p.m. and square off on Saturday (Feb. 4) against Monmouth, Valparaiso and Augustana at 1 p.m.
In competition last week against Milwaukee, Western Illinois recorded a total of 32 season personal bests, one of which reset a school record.
Freshman Doug Ogilvie earned a Three-Meter Diving score of 354.53. His effort surpassed the school record mark of 348.95 set in 2008 by Anthony Holzhauer, as well as the Brophy Pool record of 345.05 set in 2006 by former Leatherneck Eric Campbell. Ogilvie was awarded Summit League Athlete of the Week honors for the second consecutive week for his dominant diving performances.
Sophomore Julia Rassmussen also earned her way into the Western Illinois Record Book last week. Her One Meter Diving personal record of 227.55 ranks her sixth in program history.
