AMES, Iowa – ChrisDell Harris took fourth place in the women's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.70 seconds at the ISU open, Saturday, January 23 as the Western Illinois indoor track and field team completed its third meet of the season.
Harris improved upon her fifth place, 7.82 second performance in last weekend's Iowa Open by a full tenth of a second and also finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.12 meters.
Also on the women's side, Dana LaRue continued her impressive performance this season. LaRue finished third in the shot put with a career-best mark of 13.91 meters and took sixth in the weight throw with a career-best throw of 15.35 meters.
Lizzy Jones also cracked the top ten in the weight throw with a mark of 14.70 meters, good for eighth place while Katie Jay took fourth place in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:26.87 minutes. Chelsea Lynes finished fourth in the 800-meter run (2:20.25)
On the men's side, the Fighting Leathernecks were led by Jason Crisman, who took first in the shot put with a mark of 16.22 meters while Paul Hames took the eighth spot with a mark of 14.73 meters. Crisman also took fourth in the weight throw (16.50 meters) while Hames took the fifth spot in the same event (16.24 meters).
Other top finishers on the men's side included the 4x400 meter relay team of Jeremy Streater, Ray Richardson, Marcus McGee and Brian Pinta who took third place with a time of 3:20.64 minutes.
Western Illinois will head to Cedar Falls, Iowa for the Jack Jennetr Invitational at Northern Iowa from Jan. 29-30.
