TULSA, Okla.- The Western Illinois men's tennis team swept all the matches finished while defeating Centenary, 4-0, in its Summit League opener at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Starting the match with singles play, the Leathernecks (3-11, 1-0 Summit League) swept the first four matches completed to clinch the win and end the match. Senior Zach Frisch picked up his fifth win of the spring at No. 1 singles by defeating Centenary's Jules Bourgon in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Fellow senior Sean Ragee-Nelson made short work of the Gents' Seva Kostelanetz, dismissing him at No. 5 singles in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
Other singles winners for Western were senior Neil Lesinski at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2, and freshman Jim Capalbo at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
The Leathernecks play their second match of the Summit League cluster against UMKC Saturday, March 28, at 9 a.m. back at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
