Hassan Amen, 5-11, 190, Fr., DB (Dearborn, Mich./Fordson)

Intercepted 13 passes in two seasons... returned three of his four fumble recoveries in 2007 for touchdowns... earned all-conference and all-city recognition at both defensive back and running back... named to the Detroit Free Press All-Metro Team in 2007 and 2008... was an all-state defensive back by the Detroit Free Press in 2008, recording 45 tackles, eight interceptions and three sacks... rushed for 862 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior and 1,090 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior... averaged 19.0 yards per punt return (two touchdowns) and 38.1 yards per kick return in 2008... competed in basketball and track and field (discus, shot put)... born in Africa.

 


 

 

 

Ethan Bachinski, 6-3, 215, Fr., LB (Milton, Wis./Milton)

Selected three times to the all-conference first team as a linebacker... was a unanimous selection in 2008... earned a pair of all-district and all-area honors... was a Wisconsin Preps All-State linebacker in 2007 and an Associated Press All-State linebacker in 2008... also earned all-area and all-state recognition as tight end... qualified for the state track meet in 2006 with a discus throw of 166'11”...  was a 2007 state qualifier in the 4x100m and 4x200m relays... was the regional discus champion in 2007 and was a member of the 4x100m and 4x200m sectional relay champion teams.

 


 

 

 

 

 

Marva Carley, 6-0, 205, Fr., RB (Palmetto, Fla./Palmetto)

Rushed 143 times for 841 yards and six touchdowns in 2008, averaging 5.9 yards per carry and 76.5 yards per game... caught 12 passes for 141 yards... was part of a 2008 district title team that compiled a 4-0 district record while outscoring its opponents 128-19... played for a two-time playoff team, reaching the semifinals in 2008.




 

Terriun Crump, 6-3, 210, So., WR (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central)

Was COD's leading receiver last season, 670 yards and nine touchdowns on 39 receptions... led the team in scoring, recording 10 touchdowns in 11 games... was a first-team Midwest Football Conference selection and an all-region pick... earned all-conference and all-area honors as a senior at Rich Central... caught 35 passes for 704 yards and nine touchdowns... named the team's offensive MVP... set a Rich Central single-game record of 192 yards on six receptions... was also an all-conference selection and team MVP in basketball.

 



 

 

 

Ryan Demming, 6-3, 235, Fr., DL (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita)

Recorded 62 total tackles, half of which were solo stops, in 2008... notched six sacks, one fumble recovery and one blocked punt... was a first-team all-conference defensive lineman... helped St. Rita to the 2008 Chicago Catholic League championship, a 10-2 record, and the quarterfinal round of the playoffs... earned all-area honorable mention status by the Southtown Star... named the team's defensive MVP... was a member of the honor roll... earned three varsity letters in football and basketball.

 



 

 

 

Dan Dispensa, 6-0, 185, Fr., DB (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita)

Was named the 2008 Chicago Catholic League Offensive Player of the Year... earned all-area mention from the Chicago Sun-Times and first-team all-conference recognition as a running back... helped St. Rita to the 2008 league title and the quarterfinal round of the state playoffs... was named the ESPN 1000 Player of the Week.

 



 

 


 

Antoine Ford, 5-11, 175, So., WR (Pemberton, N.J./North Carolina Tech Prep School)

Played at North Carolina Tech Prep School in 2008 where he helped capture a conference championship... was named to the all-county and all-area first team in 2007... recorded 51 receptions, 673 yards and six touchdowns as a senior... intercepted a team-high five passes... set the school record for both single-season (51) and career (87) receptions... enrolled at Western Illinois in January.
 




 

Cory Hofstetter, 6-4, 250, Fr., TE (Geneva, Ill./Geneva)

Helped Geneva to a 35-4 record and an appearance in the 2008 state title game as a three-year varsity player... earned most of his honors as a defensive end... was a Chicago Sun-Times all-area selection in 2007 and the conference defensive MVP in 2008... recorded 73 total tackles and eight sacks as a captain in 2008, repeating his all-conference honors and earning all-state recognition from four sources... named the 2008 Walter Payton's Roundhouse Defensive Player of the Year... selected as on of the Chicago Tribune's top 100 players in Illinois... was also an all-conference and all-area baseball player... hit .404 with 12 home runs and 38 RBI as a junior.
 




 

Jimmy Holtschlag, 6-5, 300, Fr., OL (Quincy, Ill./Notre Dame)

Selected to four all-state teams and named Quincy Notre Dame's MVP as the starting right tackle... named to the all-state teams by the IHSFCA Champaign News-Gazette and Chicago Tribune in both 2007 and 2008 ... earned all-state academic honors as well... recognized on the all-area team three times, on both the offensive and defensive lines... started at right tackle for his junior and senior seasons after starting at left tackle as a sophomore... participated in the 2009 Shrine all-star game... helped QND to an undefeated regular season and a berth in the 2008 state quarterfinals... recorded 54 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and a team-high five sacks last season... earned four varsity letters... was a three-year all-conference and academic all-conference pick... named QND's freshman of the year.

 



 

 

Mason Howington, 6-4, 235, Fr., TE (Larenceville, Ga./Brookwood)

Earned two varsity letters at tight end... named to the 2008 all-county team... averaged 17 yards per catch and was the team's third-leading receiver as a senior... was a three-time offensive lineman of the week... had an averaged blocking grade of 92 percent in 2008... helped Brookwood to a regional title in 2007 and back-to-back playoff berths... was an integral part of Brookwood's school-record 3,145 rushing yards in 2007... blocked for a 2,500-rusher in 2007... was an honor roll member... earned three varsity letters in track and field... finished in third place in the regional discus competition as a junior... has an uncle (Danny Holcombe) who played right guard on Alabama's 1979 national champion team.




 

Duck Lowrance, 6-0, 175, Fr., DB (Portland, Texas/Portland)

Notched 90 tackles as a junior and 96 as a senior, including 58 solo stops each year... intercepted six passes in 2007 and five in 2008... broke up 39 passes as a two-year starting varsity defensive back... was a two-time all-district selection and the 2008 team MVP... earned academic all-district and academic all-state honors... was a member of the National Honor Society... rushed for 821 yards on 73 carries (11.25 ypc), scoring 14 touchdowns in 2008... scored touchdowns in the last eight games of the year, including three playoff games, on his first touch of the game... qualified for regionals in the 400m dash (48.5 seconds)... participated four years in track and field... recorded two of the area's top times in the 110m hurdles (15.56) and 300m hurdles (37.8).

 




 

Gary McCleod, 6-1, 185, Fr., DB (Pompano Beach, Fla./Blanche Ely)

Earned three varsity letters at wide receiver... totaled 101 catches for more than 1,400 yards and eight touchdowns in his three-year career... was named Blanche Ely's best all-around player and the team's offensive MVP... earned all-county and all-city honors... selected as an alternate to the Army All-Star Game... participated in baseball and track... was part of the state runner-up 4x100m relay team (42.23 seconds)... won the regional 200m race (21.7 seconds)... earned honor roll recognition.

 

 

Sam Power, 6-3, 205, Fr., LB, West Lafayette, Ind./Benton Central

Led Benton Central with 66 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and one sack in 2008... forced four fumbles, blocked three kicks and broke up six passes last year... as a quarterback, rushed for 759 yards and nine touchdowns on 144 carries... threw for 1,384 yards and 15 touchdowns on 98-of-192 passing... set school records for single-game total offense (416 yds), single-season total offense (2,143 yds) and single-season blocked kicks (3) as a senior... selected to Indiana Scout.com team... selected twice to the all-conference, all-area and all-state teams... was an academic all-state selection in 2008... named to the region all-star team and the Scout.com 7-on-7 Passing Tournament All-Tournament Team... earned four varsity letters... was Benton Central's offensive MVP and team captain as a senior... earned two academic excellence awards, was a two-year member of the National Honor Society and three-year member of the Spanish National Honor Society.

 



 




Justin Rideau, 6-3, 195, Jr., WR (Beaumont, Texas/Blinn College)

Totaled 22 catches for 307 yards and 2 touchdowns as a two-year starter... contributed to the nation's fourth-ranked passing offense... helped Blinn College to a No. 11 ranking in the final NJCAA poll... enrolled at Western Illinois in January.



 

Carter Ridenour, 6-2, 215, Fr., QB (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf)

Compiled a 24-1 record over the last two years... was the starting wide receiver on an undefeated state championship team in 2007... started at quarterback and captained an 11-1 team in 2008... earned all-conference and all-metro recognition in 2008 and 2008... recorded 37 catches for 544 yards and eight touchdowns in 2007... completed 118-of-187 passes (.631) for 1,870 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2008... rushed for 275 yards and two touchdowns as a senior quarterback... also a varsity baseball player, starting in right field and serving as a relief pitcher... earned the IHSA Scholastic Award in 2007 and 2008.

 

 

 

William Ritter, 6-2, 210, Fr., DE (Odessa, Texas/Permian)

Recorded five sacks, eight tackles for loss, 43 total tackles including 26 solo stops in 2008... notched 26 quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery as a senior... was an all-district selection at defensive end and a five-time player of the week in 2008... helped Permian to a 12-1 record last year, a district title and an appearance in the third round of the state playoffs... was an honor society student... his father was a defensive end at Texas Tech from 1990-94.

 



 

 

Ocious Samuel, 6-3, 200, Fr., DE (Clinton Township, Mich./Clintondale)

Was a two-time all-Macomb County selection... compiled 87 tackles, 12 sacks and eight forced fumbles... selected to the all-Detroit East team... advanced to the regional round of the state tournament.




 

 

 

Ben Schneider, 6-1, 190, Fr., DB (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller)

Earned all-conference honors and team defensive MVP recognition... led Moeller in tackles for two years as a strong safety... totaled 68 tackles in 2007 and again in 2008... tallied a sack and a fumble recovery in 2007... had two forced fumbles, one interception, four tackles for loss and one blocked kick as a senior... helped Moeller to two playoff appearances.



 

 

Derek Shay, 6-4, 270, Fr., OL (Cerro Gordo, Ill./Cerro Gordo)

Earned four varsity letters... became Cerro Gordo's first junior captain... named to the all-conference first team on both offense and defense and a junior and again as a senior... earned all-county, all-area and IHSFCA all-state honors both of his last two seasons... named the team's offensive lineman of the year, defensive lineman of the year, and MVP in 2007 and 2008... helped Cerro Gordo to back-to-back playoff appearances the last two years... was a two-time National Honor Society member.
