DES MOINES, Iowa- The Western Illinois men's tennis team was unable to find its first win of the 2009 season, falling 7-0 at The Drake Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Leathernecks (0-6) were able to steal a double match at No. 3 doubles as senior Michael Schild and freshman Mandela Shepard went into a tiebreaker at 7-7 with Saint Louis' P.J. Hendrie and Adam Reeb. Schild and Shepard took the tiebreaker, 7-5, to win the match.
After dropping the doubles point to the Billikens (4-1), Western was unable to win any of the six singles matches played. Senior Sean Ragee-Nelson battled in both sets, dropping a close 7-6, 6-4, match to Hendrie.
The Leathernecks remain in Des Moines tomorrow, February 14, to face Creighton at 4 p.m. at the Drake Tennis Center.
