BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- The Western Illinois men's tennis team's two senior doubles teams of
Neil Lesinski and
Sean Ragee-Nelson and
Zach Frisch and
Andy Jones were both 2-2 in doubles play after wrapping up competition at the Hoosier Fall Classic.
Lesinski and Ragee-Nelson opened up play with an 8-4 win over Michigan State's team of Ronnie Hulewicz and Scott Rasmussen. The duo continued to win in the main draw in the next round by defeating Western Michigan's Kevin Hayward and Pablo Olivarez, 8-6. Lesinski and Ragee-Nelson would lose to the eventual champions from Indiana. They would finish with a record of 2-2.
Frisch and Jones took a different route in the tournament, but also ended up with two wins. After losing to a duo from Butler in first round, Frisch and Jones rebounded to beat Morehead State's Bradley Bryan and Lovell Medcalf, 9-8 (4). Their next win came in the following round, picking up the victory over a team from Indiana, 8-6. They would end the tournament dropping a match to Michigan State's Hulewicz and Rasmussen.
Singles play for Western was highlighted by Ragee-Nelson, who recorded two wins in the Hoosier Flight. After a loss to Xavier's Ra'ees Ismail, Ragee-Nelson defeated Morehead State's Bryan, 6-3, 6-3. After a loss in the next round, Ragee-Nelson rebounded for a match in his final win over Butler's Zach Ervin, 6-2, 6-2.
Frisch was the only Leatherneck to record a win in the opening round, rallying from down a set to defeat Butler's Raynauld, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
