MACOMB, Ill.- The Western Illinois women's soccer team dropped its second-straight conference road match after being defeated by South Dakota State, 3-0.
"South Dakota State has a very good program," stated Western Illinois head coach Tony Guinn. "They have a lot of seniors and they will be a tough team to beat for anyone."
The Jackrabbits (7-3-0, 3-0-0 Summit League) got on board first in the 13th minute of the game on an unassisted goal by Kerstyn Farrell. It was Ferrell's first goal of the season.
South Dakota State got its second goal of the game from Jessica Heine's first goal of the season. Heine took a penalty kick and beat Westerwinds' (4-4-2, 0-2-0 Summit League) sophomore goalkeeper
Meghan Tyk (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Whitefish Bay).
The Jackrabbits scored an extra insurance goal by Kerstyn Farrell's twin sister Kellyn Farrell scored her second goal of the season on a header from three yards out. Erin Kasmarik picked up an assist on the play.

Jessica Walsh, combining to make five saves on the game.
"We're picking up too many injuries at a very important time of the season," Guinn stated. "Those injuries are starting to catch up with us."
The Westerwinds head back to Des Moines, where they played last week, to face off against Drake, Sunday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m.
