OMAHA, Neb. - The Western Illinois men's tennis team swept a pair of dual matches Saturday, defeating South Dakota State, 7-0, and host Creighton, 6-1.

The Leathernecks (3-4) took every match against the Jackrabbits in straight sets, while two of their five singles wins against Creighton required tie-breakers. Martin Bostrom defeated the Bluejays' Jose Guerra (6-4, 3-6, 10-5) at No. 1 singles in his only singles match of the day. Senior Justin Junck saw his first action at No. 1 this season earlier in the day, defeating the Jackrabbits' Corey Paluch (7-5, 6-2).

Neil Lesinski picked up a pair of wins at No. 2 and 3 singles, Sean Ragee-Nelson won twice at No. 3 and 4, and Drew Forsberg earned victories at No. 5 and 6. Andy Jones split his two matches, winning at No. 4 singles against South Dakota State, while Mike Tiu picked up a win at No. 6 against the Jackrabbits.

"We played great today, especially on the heels of a disappointing outing against Drake yesterday," said Western Illinois head coach Michael Hunt. "We're happy to pick up a few wins, including one against a Missouri Valley team, and we're starting to bring things together but we still have a ways to go. Drew looked very good today. It's nice to see him back out on the court and things are starting to shape up for him."

The Leathernecks were perfect in doubles play, winning all six matches in straight sets.
