Freshman Divers Compete at NCAA Zonals for Western Illinois

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Freshman divers Eric Campbell and Anthony Holzhauer represented Western Illinois at the NCAA Zone C Diving competition Friday and Saturday at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion at The Ohio State University. Campbell records a 17th-place finish in the 1-meter diving competition.

Campbell and Holzhauer competed in both the 1-meter dive and 3-meter dive. In the 1-meter dive on Saturday, Campbell recorded the 17th best score in the prelims with a cumulative score of 253.55 for his six dives. That score qualified him for the finals were he also finished in 17th place with a score of 204.90, which gave him a total score of 458.45.

Holzhauer had a total score of 206.15 in the 1-meter prelims for 33rd place. His score of 57.35 in his final dive was the fourth-highest of all 42 competitors during that round.

On Friday in the 3-meter dive competition, Campbell captured 29th place with a score of 226.20, while Holzhauer took 33rd place again with a score of 211.20.

In the platform competition, Campbell placed 15th overall with a total score of 446.65 in the finals after his score of 227.90 in the prelims qualified him for the finals. Holzhauer placed 21st in the prelims with a platform score of 151.40.

Steven LoBue of Purdue captured the both 1-meter competition with a total score of 693.20 and the platform with 718.90 points, while Taylor Roberts of Indiana won the 3-meter dive with a total score of 677.35.

Campbell was the only dive from a Mid-Continent Conference school to make it into the finals of either competition with his 17th place score of 253.55 in the 1-meter dive. For compete results of the NCAA Zone C Diving competition, visit the link at the bottom of the page.
