ROCHESTER, Mich. — Kristi Tomczyk scored a natural hat trick in a 6-1 rout by Oakland over Western Illinois University Saturday at the OU Soccer Complex. She scored three straight goals that were all within six minutes of each other. Her goals game in the 54th, 56th and 60th minute.
Kelly Warner was the only Westerwind to score a goal. Her goal came in the 20th minute off of an assist from
Katelyn Wisner.
Marianne Samdal scored the game's opening goals for Oakland. Her first goal came at the 5:08 mark followed by her game-winning goal in the 11th minute.
Susann Kamrud scored the only other goal by Oakland in the 71st minute.
Western (9-7-0, 2-3-0) was outshot by the Golden Grizzlies (7-9-0, 4-1-0) 14-15 and put fewer shots on goal at 8-9.
With the IUPUI loss at Valparaiso, Western can still get into the conference championship with another loss by IUPUI or a win against Centenary, Saturday, Oct. 28, at home. Kick off is scheduled for noon.
