Swimming and Diving Falls to Wisconsin-Milwaukee

MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois' swimming and diving squads fell in dual meet action Saturday, to Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Brophy Hall pool on Senior Day. Western recorded 10 first-place finishes on the day. The men fell by the score of 125-112, while the women lost 157-84.

On the men's side, Western was led by senior Mark DuBois (South Bend, Ind.) with two victories. DuBois took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :22.30 and in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of :48.49. Sophomore Jason Meinhardt (Bettendorf, Iowa) took first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 10:07.33.

In the 100-yard backstroke, junior Drew Page (Naperville, Ill.) won with a season best time of :55.46, while freshman Gregory Thede (Davenport, Iowa) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.76. In the 1-meter diving competition, freshman Eric Campbell (Glenview, Ill.) had a first place score of 295.50.

On the women's side, junior Lindsay Mathis (Homer Glen, Ill.) took first in the 50 free with a time of :25.83 and sophomore Rachael Krull (Garden Prairie, Ill.) had a time of 2:17.13 for first place in the 200-yard individual medley. Freshman Amber Piercy (Ft. Wayne, Ind.) won the 500 free with at time of 5:19.31. Junior Madeha Farrar (Thornton, Ill.) won the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.39.

This meet closed out the regular season for Western Illinois and it will now participate in the Mid-Continent Conference Championships from Feb. 16-18 in Indianapolis, Ind.
