Men?s Swimming and Diving Competes at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. - The Western Illinois University men?s swimming and diving team competed in a quadrangular meet Saturday, at Monmouth College and came away with seven first-place finishes. The other teams at the meet were the University of Chicago and Rose-Hulman.Senior Mark DuBois (South Bend, Ind.) produced two wins for Western. His first came in the 200-yard freestyle event as he hit the wall with a season best time of 1:49.26. In the 100-yard freestyle, DuBois took first with a time of :48.78.Junior Will Dickerson (Moscow, Idaho) won the 100-yard backstroke with a season best time of :56.59. Freshman Ryan Wichman (Bowling Green, Ohio) claimed first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:52.35. In the 100-yard breaststroke, freshman Gregory Thede (Davenport, Iowa) produced a season best time of 1:02.20.Western?s other two first-place finishes came in the 400-yard medley relay, as the Leathernecks hit the wall in 3:46.39. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Western had a first place time of 3:19.06.Wichman also took second in the 1000 free with a time of 10:09.57. Junior Drew Page (Naperville, Ill.) had two second-place finishes with one being in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :22.80 and in the 100-yard backstroke with a time :57.09. Senior Brent Eames (DeKalb, Ill.) finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of :55.41.The Western Illinois men?s swimming and diving team will take the next week off, while the women will be in action Friday at Illinois State. Competition is set to begin at 6 p.m.
