Brett Taylor has been named the Hampton Inn Scholar-Athlete of the Week for his performance on October 29 at South Dakota. 

The junior linebacker helped secure a win over the Coyotes by recording a game-high and season-high 15 tackles, including 11 solo. The team captain recovered the key fumble in the endzone for a touchback with five minutes remaing, helping Western Illinois complete a 35-34 comeback victory.

On the year, Taylor leads the nation in solo tackles per game (7.9) and is fifth in total tackles per game (11.3). He holds a 3.69 GPA majoring in Recreation, Park and Toursim Administration.
