Riggs Baxter was named the Hampton Inn Scholar-Athlete of the Week for his performance last weekend.

The sophomore linebacker recorded a season-high six tackles (five solo stops) in the Leathernecks' 28-23 victory at Northern Illinois, snapping a 15-game losing streak to FBS programs. His biggest play of the game helped seal the win.

With NIU facing 4th-and-3 from the WIU 9, Baxter dropped back into coverage and knocked down a pass attempt to give Western the ball back on downs.

On the year, the special teams captain has 12 tackles and a pass break-up. He owns a 3.872 GPA majoring in Engineering Technology.
