Western Illinois women's track athlete Aaliyah White (Harlem, Ill./Harlem) has been named Hampton Inn Scholar-Athlete of the Week Monday (April 13) for her performance on the track this past weekend, and continued success in the classroom.
On Saturday (April 11) White led the Leathernecks at the 26th annual Lee Calhoun Memorial Invitational at Hanson Field. White started her day with a second-place finish as a member of the 4x100 meter relay team. She then took first in the women's 400 meter dash in a time of 56.79 seconds, ranking in her ninth on Western's all-time list. White continued her Saturday with a fourth-place finish in the 200 meter dash, and capped things off by anchoring a thrilling 4x400 meter relay that ended with a Leatherneck victory.
In addition to her success on the track, the Harlem, Illinois native also maintains a 3.442 GPA as an LEJA major.
