Lance Lenoir, Jr. Named MVFC Offensive Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Western Illinois sophomore wide receiver Lance Lenoir, Jr. (Crete/Crete Monee) was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference 'Offensive Player of the Week' following his career-best performance in the Leathernecks' near upset of ninth-ranked Illinois State. It marks the first offensive weekly award for Lenoir.

He hauled in a career-high 12 catches for 195 yards, also a career-high, in the 37-34 last second loss. Lenoir matched his personal best with two touchdown catches.

He hauled in a 29-yard touchdown early in the second quarter, then his career-long 75-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter put WIU back on top 34-27 at the time.

Lenoir registered the 10th-highest single-game receiving yardage total in program history. In the process, Lenoir joined the career 'Top 10' in two categories: receptions (90) and touchdowns (11). He also surpassed 1,000 career receiving yards during the contest (1,195).

Now with four 100-yard receiving games this season, Lenoir moved to within one of tying the season record. He also moved into a tie for seventh place all-time with his fifth career 100-yard game.

In two career games versus the Redbirds, Lenoir has accumulated 19 catches for 300 yards and four touchdowns.

The Fighting Leathernecks (3-5 overall, 1-3 MVFC) will have their streak of three consecutive games played against a nationally ranked 'Top 10' team come to an end this Saturday. However, Western could be facing its fifth straight ranked opponent when it plays host to Northern Iowa (ranked 20th last week but coming off a loss). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
