MACOMB, Ill. – The Leathernecks open their preseason schedule with a match-up against Clarke University.

After putting in plenty of work throughout fall camp, the Leathernecks are ready for their first test of the preseason. The match-up with Clarke will give Western its first opportunity to compete against another team and see how the work from camp translates to the field.

Western returns several familiar faces from last season, including Ryan Wrobleski, Oskar Grevelius, Diego Porras and Xavier Gagnon. The returning group will look to provide experience as the Leathernecks continue building chemistry with a mix of newcomers.

The preseason opener will give Western a chance to work through different lineups, get valuable minutes and continue developing its identity on the field.

Following the match-up with Clarke, Western will have another preseason test on Aug. 17 when the Leathernecks take on Indian Hills Community College-Centerville. The team will look to build on its first test and continue making progress toward the start of the regular season.
