Leatherneck Track and Field Turn in Solid Marks at the Missouri Invitational

MACOMB, IL- Western Illinois turned in multiple standout performances Friday at the Missouri Invitational, highlighted by event titles in the men's 800 meters and men's long jump at the University of Missouri.

Richard Brown led the way for the Leathernecks on the track, capturing the men's 800-meter title with a winning time of 1:51.84. Brown outpaced a competitive field to secure one of Western Illinois' top performances of the meet and continued a strong indoor season in the middle-distance events.

In the field events, Western Illinois made a major impact in the men's long jump. Toriano Tate delivered a winning leap of 7.36 meters to claim the event title, while teammate Cage Davison added a podium finish with a third-place mark of 7.07 meters, giving WIU two of the top three spots.

On the women's side, Maleigha Huston posted a strong showing in the 800 meters, placing fourth with a time of 2:12.61 in a tightly contested race.

Overall, Western Illinois showcased balance between its middle-distance runners and horizontal jumpers, earning key top finishes against a competitive field. The Leathernecks will look to build on the momentum as the indoor season continues.
