MACOMB, Ill.- Western Illinois senior forward Mia Nicastro has been named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week after a dominant two-game stretch for the Leathernecks.

Nicastro continues to rank among the nation's elite scorers, sitting fourth in the NCAA in points per game and ninth in total points. She backed that up with another huge week, averaging 24.5 points and 11.0 rebounds while shooting an efficient 55.9 percent from the field across two conference matchups.

Against Southeast Missouri State, Nicastro poured in 27 points on 9-of-14 shooting and a perfect 7-for-7 mark at the free throw line, while adding 13 rebounds. She followed that performance with 22 points and nine rebounds versus UT Martin, again going a perfect 2-for-2 from the stripe. Over the two games, she also contributed four assists, a block, and a steal, impacting the game well beyond just scoring.

Her consistent production in the paint, ability to finish efficiently, and leadership on both ends of the floor were key factors in Western Illinois securing important conference results. The weekly honor is the latest recognition in what has been a standout season for Nicastro, who remains a centerpiece of the Leathernecks' lineup as OVC play continues
