Nicastro Reaches 1,000 Career Points as a Leatherneck

MACOMB, Ill. - Mia Nicastro added another milestone to her standout career Saturday, becoming the newest member of Western Illinois women's basketball's 1,000-point club.

Nicastro reached the career mark during WIU's home victory at Western Hall, cementing her place among the program's top scorers. The senior forward has been a consistent offensive force throughout her time in Macomb, known for her ability to score while also impacting the game on the glass and defensively.

Over her career, Nicastro has delivered in big moments, leading the Leathernecks in scoring on numerous occasions and serving as a steady presence in the starting lineup. Her versatility and toughness have made her a matchup challenge in the Ohio Valley Conference, whether finishing through contact in the paint or stepping out to stretch the floor.

Nicastro has also been named Associated Press' Player to Keep an Eye On, OVC's Player of the Week 4 times this season, Becky Hammon's Mid-Major Player of the Year watchlist, and is currently also been within the Top 5 in scoring for the NCAA, and is Top 10 in other rankings for the NCAA.

Nicastro's achievement reflects both her individual dedication and the support of her teammates, coaches, and family throughout her journey in Purple and Gold. With the milestone now reached, she continues to climb the WIU record books while helping lead the Leathernecks through conference play this season.
