Leatherneck Women’s Basketball Set to Tip Off 2025-26 Season

MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois University women's basketball program has announced its 2025-26 schedule, featuring a mix of non-conference matchups and a full slate of Ohio Valley Conference contests, both home and away.

Western Illinois opens the season on Tuesday, Oct. 28, hosting Quincy at Western Hall. The Leathernecks continue non-conference play with Westminster (Nov. 4), Northern Illinois (Nov. 11), Chicago State (Nov. 17), and Bradley (Nov. 20). The month wraps up with a road test at Iowa on Nov. 26.

December brings more non-conference action as WIU hosts Columbia College (Dec. 9), Omaha (Dec. 13), and University of St. Francis (Dec. 4), while also traveling to Drake (Dec. 7) and Lindenwood (Dec. 18). The Leathernecks open their third season in the Ohio Valley Conference on Dec. 12 before returning home to host SIUE on Dec. 22.

Conference play picks up in January, with WIU traveling to UT Martin (Jan. 1) and SEMO (Jan. 3), then returning to Western Hall to face Tennessee State (Jan. 8) and Tennessee Tech (Jan. 10). The Leathernecks then head on the road for four straight, visiting Eastern Illinois (Jan. 13), Little Rock (Jan. 17), Morehead State (Feb. 5), and Tennessee Tech (Feb. 7).

The Leathernecks will host SEMO (Jan. 29) and UT Martin (Jan. 31) before beginning a four-game homestand in February, welcoming Eastern Illinois (Feb. 10), Little Rock (Feb. 12), Southern Indiana (Feb. 19), and Morehead State (Feb. 21). WIU's final road trip of the regular season takes them to SIUE on Feb. 26 before closing at home against Lindenwood on Feb. 28.

The 2026 OVC Tournament will be held March 4-7 in Evansville, Indiana.

"We've put together a strong, balanced schedule to challenge our experienced team. Obviously playing Iowa will be a great experience for our players and fan base." said Western Illinois University head women's basketball coach JD Gravina. "We have a great slate of home games, including having Bradley come play in Western Hall in front of our great fans. Playing Drake on the road will also challenge our team, as they are one of the top mid major programs in the country."
