Western Illinois showed strong stretches in a four-set battle against Little Rock on Friday night, falling 3-1 inside Western Hall. The Leathernecks hit .189 as a team and were led by Keyana Cruse, who turned in her best all-around performance of the season with 19 kills and 27 digs. Elizabeth Ziegler added 12 kills on .310 hitting, while Karlie Lane anchored the back row with 15 digs. WIU claimed the third set 25-21 and pushed the Trojans deep into each frame, building off the previous night's matchup in which Little Rock earned a straight-set win. Across both matches, the Leathernecks showed continued growth in offensive balance, ball control, and defensive consistency at the net.

  • National Recognition: Graduate outside hitter Keyana Cruse continues to make waves nationally, ranking 62nd in NCAA total kills. 

  • 1,000 Club: Graduate Outside Hitter Keyana Cruse surpassed the 1,000 career kills mark earlier this season at the Billiken Invitational and also reached 1,000 career digs at home against Tennessee Tech.


Scouting the Redhawks

SEMO enters this weekend's contest under Julie Yankus, who is in her 15th season. The Redhawks finished the 2024 campaign with a 19-14 overall record and a 15-3 mark in conference play. With several returners and new faces on the roster, SEMO looks to build momentum in 2025 and keep its OVC standing.
