Last Time Out

Western Illinois played a two-match road series at Lindenwood, showing stretches of strong defensive play and balanced scoring across the weekend. On Friday, the Leathernecks took a tightly contested third set and pushed the Lions late before falling in four sets. WIU followed with another four-set battle on Saturday, highlighted by a double-double from Keyana Cruse and 12 kills from Elizabeth Ziegler as the Leathernecks' blocking presence at the net continued to build momentum. Despite the results, Western Illinois generated sustained runs in both matches and showed signs of rhythm across multiple rotations heading into the next stretch of play.

Quick Hitters

  • National Recognition: Graduate outside hitter Keyana Cruse continues to make waves nationally, ranking 62nd in NCAA total kills.

  • 1,000 Club: Graduate Outside Hitter Keyana Cruse surpassed the 1,000 career kills mark earlier this season at the Billiken Invitational and also reached 1,000 career digs at home against Tennessee Tech.

Scouting the Trojans

Little Rock enters the weekend under longtime head coach Van Compton, who is in her 38th season leading the program. The Trojans finished the 2024 campaign with a 16-16 overall record and an 11-7 mark in OVC play. With a strong group of returners and several new additions, Little Rock looks to build momentum in 2025 after being picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll. The Trojans are coming off a split with Morehead State, falling 3-1 in the opening match before bouncing back with a 3-0 sweep in the rematch. They currently hold a 12-12 overall record and a 7-5 mark in conference play.
