Macomb, IL - Western Illinois University's Director of Athletics, Paul A. Bubb, has announced the hiring of Matt Rosado as the new Head Coach of the Track & Field and Cross Country programs. Rosado brings a wealth of coaching experience and a proven record of program growth and student- athlete success at the collegiate level.
Rosado joined the Leathernecks in August 2024 as the Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach, where he quickly made an impact by overseeing training plans for all distance athletes, coordinating recruiting efforts, and helping lead both programs to competitive results. Rosado has served as interim head coach, earning the trust and support of student-athletes, staff, and the athletic department.
Before WIU, Rosado served as Head Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Dakota Wesleyan University, Roosevelt University, and Calumet College of St. Joseph, where he led programs to historic finishes, set multiple school records, and guided numerous national qualifiers and all-conference athletes. His teams consistently achieved strong academic results, with multiple All-Academic Team honors and impressive team GPAs.
Director of Athletics Paul Bubb expressed confidence in the hire, stating:
"Matt has done a great job overseeing our cross country program for the past two years, and has stepped in and stepped up as the interim head coach. With the support of every group he met with during the interview process, I am confident he will do a great job as our new Head Coach."
