Macomb, IL - The Western Illinois Men's Golf team kicks off their season at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational on Monday Sep. 9 and Tuesday Sep. 10. This is the first of four tournaments for the Men's golf team this fall.Â
Returning Big Names
Western Illinois returns five players from last year's squad. Luke Lofgren & Mateo Rascon highlight the five returners. Lofgren came away with a top-three finish last season at the WIU Intercollegiate. Rascon brought home a second-place finish at the Stampede at the Creek. Another returner, Baptiste Labeyrie, won OVC player of the week last spring for the Leathernecks. Nathan Tillman and Bayden Hubacher are returning for their junior season with the team. Hubacher played in nine events last season and one top-15 finish. Tillman played in seven events and had one top-15 finish.Â
New FacesÂ
Owen Howe comes to WIU from Johnston, Iowa. Howe earned the Iowa player of the year at the 4A level. Howe wrapped up his high school career with an individual state championship at Otter Creek. Howe also helped his team win a state title in 2022.Â
Teagen Hull comes to WIU from Eldon, Missouri. Howe was a three-time state qualifier as well as earning himself All-State honors twice in three years.Â
Golf CourseÂ
The SIUE Dolenc Invitational is played at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Illinois. The course is a par 71 that plays 7,178 yards. The SIUE Dolence Invitational is a three-round tournament, with rounds one and two taking place on Monday, with round three taking place on Tuesday.Â
