Western Illinois Finishes 5th at OVC Tournament

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois Leathernecks came into the week with high hopes and something to prove as they headed to their first Ohio Valley Conference tournament as a member of the OVC. WIU did just that as they finished top five and three golfers place inside the top 20 individually.
 
Through two rounds it was all Natalie Hooper for WIU as she knocked down four birdies and was tied for fifth heading into the final round. Hooper battled through tough conditions on Tuesday falling to an overall finish of 15th place. Hooper found her grove on day two of the three-day event knocking down 14 pars to go along with her two birdies and two bogeys. Hooper shot and even par 72.
 
Olivia Kerr finished atop of the Leatherneck individual standings placing 12th in her first OVC tournament. An opening round 80 put Kerr behind the leaders, but she made up ground over the next two days shooting a 76 on day two that saw two birdies. On the tournament Kerr saw six birdies drop.
 
Mia Scrimgeour was the third finisher on WIU with a T18 finish. Scrimgeour saw an eagle drop on the back nine of her opening round propelling her into the second day. On day two Scrimgeour found 14 pars as she shot a 76. On the final day she Scrimgeour found a pair of birdies going along with seven pars.
