Leathernecks Finish 11th in Florida

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois wrapped its third spring tournament, placing 11th at the Butler Don Benbow Spring Invitational in Oldsmar, Florida. Western Illinois finished with a team score of 652 (+34).

Olivia Kerr led WIU with a top-20 performance. Kerr put together back-to-back 79 to finish +7 over the 36-hole tournament. Kerr got the ball rolling in the first round as two birdies fell. On Tuesday, Kerr found success on the back nine as she had three birdies in six holes, including back-to-back birdies on holes 15 and 16.

Natalie Hooper and Gabriela Galindo Rubio both posted +18, finishing T34. Hooper found success in the first round. Hooper buried a birdie on hole one and followed it with three straight pars. Galindo Rubio, who golfed as an individual this week for WIU, had a birdie in the first round and followed it with 11 pars in the second round.
