Leathernecks Finish Opening Tournament

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois women's golf team wrapped up their first week of play at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial on Tuesday (9/12) afternoon. The Leathernecks finished in 16th out of the 17-team field.

Natalie Hooper led the team with a 59th-place finish. Hooper succeeded in round two in the latter half of the front nine. She would knock down three in six holes to finish -1 on the front nine. In the 54-hole event, Hooper would have eight birdies.

Olivia McCrystal finished her Leatherneck debut placing T-72. McCrystal was consistent through all three rounds, posting a +8 overall score in every round of the three-round event. The Northern Ireland native saw five birdies fall on the tournament.

Western Illinois is back in action at the Brittany Kelly Classic on Monday (Sept. 18) and Tuesday (Sept. 19).
