Leatherneck Men's Soccer Unveils 2023 Schedule

Western Illinois plays final season in Summit League

MACOMB -- The Western Illinois University men's soccer program unveiled its schedule for the 2023 season, starting with three home exhibition matches, followed by seven non-conference matches before beginning their final season in the Summit League.

The Leathernecks open the year with a home exhibition match on August 12 against Illinois-Chicago, then follow that with two more home exhibitions, taking on Northeastern Community College (Aug. 14) and Quincy (Aug. 19).

Western Illinois begins the regular season on the road, playing three-straight matches away from Macomb. The Leathernecks are at Northern Illinois (Aug. 24), Green Bay (Aug. 27) and Drake (Sept. 1). WIU returns home, taking on Lindenwood (Sept. 5). The Leathernecks then face a trio of in-state rivals, hosting Bradley (Sept. 8), traveling to SIUE (Sept. 12) then hosting Eastern Illinois (Sept. 16).

Western Illinois begins its final season of play in the Summit League hosting Oral Roberts (Sept. 23) before stepping out of conference to visit Northern Kentucky (Sept. 26).

The Leathernecks jump back into league play, traveling to Omaha (Sept. 30) and hosting St. Thomas (Oct. 7).

Western Illinois plays its final nonconference match of the season, hosting IUPUI (Oct. 10) before closing the regular season with five straight conference matches.

Western Illinois takes Denver at home (Oct. 14) , then travels to Kansas City (Oct. 18) and Oral Roberts (Oct. 21). The Leathernecks close out the home portion of the schedule, hosting Omaha (Oct. 28) then end the regular season at St. Thomas (Nov. 4).

The Summit League Championship will be played the following week.
